The Take Root Jacksonville initiative is to assist in the stabilization of Jacksonville households and neighborhoods through a strategic outreach campaign to link potential and current homeowners to trusted community participants and their resources. This initiative will be a cooperative effort between Family Foundations along with Freddie Mac and a coalition of trusted participants, whom represent local government, nonprofit housing counseling agencies, the local business community, realtors, lenders and other reputable housing stakeholders.
Take Root Jacksonville is a valuable resource to help families successfully achieve and maintain homeownership, both for those seeking to buy their first home and those who may be in danger of losing their home.
The past several years of recession have wreaked havoc on our home values and our personal savings. Throughout our community, people and families are facing enormous financial challenges. We hear about people making choices between gasoline or groceries. We hear about missed mortgage payments and foreclosures. As mayor, growing economic development in Jacksonville is among my top priorities, and that effort begins with the financial health of our citizens.
Take Root Jacksonville shares my philosophy that in order to encourage self-sufficiency among residents, we must empower them with the tools for success. Education is a lifelong process. It is inspiring to witness people coming together to learn from volunteer experts so that we can advance our work to bring Jacksonville to the next level.
